ROME private tour: la Dolce Vita with tiramisù cake tasting

The guided tour of this corner of the Eternal City starts from one of the most beautiful and largest squares, Piazza del Popolo, with the obelisk in the center and elegant monumental fountains that can also be admired from the Pincio terrace. Overlooking the square we will visit the Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo, dating back to the 15th century, which preserves extraordinary masterpieces such as the Chigi Chapel designed by Raphael and built by Bernini and the Cerasi Chapel which houses two extraordinary paintings by Caravaggio.

Our tour continues in via del Corso, famous for shopping, until we reach the Pompi pastry shop – The kingdom of tiramisu, for a sweet break. Here we will taste the famous tiramisu which is made in the classic version and in many other variations. A few steps away we find another iconic square often used in film sets, Piazza di Spagna with its enchanting Trinità dei Monti staircase, the most beautiful staircase in Rome that offers a postcard view.

At the foot of the steps we can admire the beautiful Fontana della Barcaccia and it often happens to see the famous Roman horse carriages. We continue the visit along the famous Via Condotti, the street with the most luxurious shops in the capital where the great Made in Italy brands attract customers with colorful and sparkling windows. After the glamor of the shopping streets we will visit the Italian government buildings externally starting from Palazzo Montecitorio, seat of the Chamber of Deputies and the Italian Parliament meeting in common session.

The building was designed by Bernini and modified in Art Nouveau style. Not far away we find Palazzo Chigi, the seat of the Government and residence of the President of the Council of Ministers. Throughout its history the palace was the residence of some of the most important noble families and Mozart also stayed there. Our guided tour ends by passing through the Alberto Sordi Gallery, an elegant shopping point up to the Trevi Fountain.

This is the most famous of the Roman fountains, a jewel of water and imposing sculptures from the 1700s that is linked to an ancient tradition: throwing a coin into the splendid fountain to be able to return to admire the eternal city. The Trevi Fountain became famous all over the world thanks also to the film La dolce vita by Fellini in which Anita Ekberg wrapped in a long black dress in the fountain invites Marcello Mastroianni to follow her.
