The guided tour of Frascati will make you discover a town near Rome where you can admire the cultural beauty of this village in the quiet Castelli Romani area and have a beautiful view of Rome, at the same time offering you suggestions for trying the typical wines and delicacies of the place.
It starts from the central Piazza Roma square from which you can admire Villa Aldobrandini in all its splendor with its imposing presence on the hill. Built in the seventeenth century, it is also called Belvedere because of the panorama that can be enjoyed from up there and is surrounded by a beautiful Italian garden and a very long arch of centuries-old holm oaks. A real jewel that can be admired from the outside and is rented for events and ceremonies. It is the largest and most important villa among the many that adorn Frascati, such as Villa Lancelotti, Villa Falconieri and Villa Torlonia which today is the municipal park of the city.
Our guided tour continues in the historic center admiring the beautiful Cathedral of San Pietro built in 600 in Baroque style with two large bell towers and a stone and travertine marble facade. It is the most important place of worship in Frascati as well as a bishopric and houses precious sacred objects. In the same square that houses the Cathedral we find the monumental Fountain of St. Peter, built by the same artists who created the façade of the church, with the coat of arms of the city and three large niches with underlying basins that collect the water that flows. Our tour continues towards the Bishop’s Palace which stands where once there was the fortress placed to protect the city and from where the inhabited center began to develop. V Built by Pope Pius II Piccolomini, the palace is a massive rectangular building with a central courtyard and is the seat of the Diocese of Tuscolana.
The guided tour ends by walking along other characteristic alleys of the historic center until you reach the panoramic point of the Belvedere Roma with a splendid view of the Castelli Romani for some souvenir photos.
