ALTAMURA private tour: the town of bread

Discover the medieval town built during the Holy Roman Empire, stroll in the historical center and discover the architectural beauties of the churches of St. Blaise, St. Nicholas, Greek Church and the Cathedral of Altamura, the only church built by Emperor Frederick II Hohenstaufen in the Middle Ages.

The tour starts from Piazza Zanardelli and continues towards the heart of the historic center with the visit of ancient shops, the stone streets and the noble palaces
The lovely walk continues through the typical squares of the old town cloisters “chiostri” and and the good smell of bread will take you in the little streets of the old town in search of old wood-burning ovens where even today cooking bread and “focaccia”: a low bread, composed of a mixture of flour, water, salt, yeast and tomatoes cooked in a wood oven
